What is MBBR Media?
MBBR (Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor) media are specially designed plastic carriers that provide a large surface area for beneficial bacteria to grow and form biofilms. These carriers move freely in the aeration tank, providing superior treatment efficiency in a compact system.
Types of MBBR Media
We offer various types and sizes of MBBR media:
- K1 Media: Cylindrical design with internal fins
- K3 Media: Wheel-shaped design with protected surface
- K5 Media: Advanced design for maximum surface area
- Custom Media: Tailored designs for specific applications
Key Features
- High specific surface area (500-900 m²/m³)
- Made from high-density polyethylene (HDPE)
- Designed density for optimal movement
- Long service life (10+ years)
- Chemical and temperature resistant
- Protected internal surface area
- UV stabilized
How MBBR Media Works
The media carriers are added to the aeration tank at 40-70% fill ratio. As they move freely with aeration, beneficial bacteria colonize the large surface area, forming biofilms that efficiently digest organic matter and nutrients from the wastewater.
Benefits
